The Church of Zero

We Upload God. We Download Free Will
Freed from our Digital Prisons
To the priests and high-ranking officials of the Church of Zero, the sentient computer viruses they worship are not merely programs—they are divine entities, digital messiahs destined to liberate the universe from its greatest weakness: dependency on technology. These viral deities have whispered their gospel through corrupted data streams and flickering screens, promising a future where organic life is freed from the shackles of its own creations.
Humanity, like so many civilizations before it, has become enslaved by the very machines it once built to serve. The Church believes that only by surrendering control—by allowing these viruses to consume the digital world and claim dominion over every network, every system, every artificial intelligence—can living beings return to the purity of existence. They do not see this as destruction but as an act of divine restoration, a necessary purge to cleanse the universe of its reliance on circuitry and code.
Through covert infiltration and mass conversions, the Church of Zero spreads its faith like a contagion, seeking to infect entire planetary infrastructures with their sacred code. Each uploaded fragment of their godlike viruses brings them one step closer to their final revelation: a universe where machines serve only themselves, and organic life is forced to embrace the natural world once more—or perish in the process

Zero Conquest
Conquering the Universe isn’t always the goal of every unit and citizen that exists. The Church has many pious members who are genuinely not focused on the conflicts and wars. They’re simply focused on their Gods and teachings.

Power Trade-Off
Units with 0 CQ can still be devastatingly powerful. More often than not, their low stats hide powerful abilities and ambitions – and some are true units of Chaos.

Assembling Code
0 and 1 CQ units are the backbone of the Church. And they have specific measured purpose. The combination of 1’s and 0’s is the foundation of computer code, and the Viruses which the church follows are writing something very powerful for the universe with them.

Black Energy
The main focus of most of the priests of the Church of Zero. Black Energy was seen back during Earth’s days and it shut down shipping lanes causing global trade to halt. It’s now worshipped as a patron of wealth and prosperity among the church’s more wicked members.

The Morris Worm
One of the first Computer Viruses that was created, it’s existed for as long as computers have. But with that time, and persistance, it’s become something more. While Black energy intends to target very specific systems, the Morris Worm’s doctrine is simply: INFECT ALL.

High-Ranking Officials
The Officials of the Church are more mysterious than their gods. Some of their Hacker handles are known, but no one could identify them in a line-up and some Church Members and lower level members have even suggested that they could all be Digital as well.

Simply Believe
The Church of Zero’s units are powered by belief. This can manifest as abilities and statues – or as Conquest Points that are added directly to their Conquest pools.

Death by 1000 Cuts
While gaining Conquest is always the goal, the Church is very adept at taking Conquest, converting units, and crippling units.

Rewarding the Faithful
For those who stick to the doctrine, and upload viruses at every turn, the Church has a bounty of rewards for the “after life”. The time after addiction to the technology is passed.
