The Primordial Twins

The True Beginning and End

Creation and Destruction

Before the first spark of light, before the void had shape, there were two—Jormungandr, the Star-Forger, and Apophis, the Devourer of Light. Born from the first breath of the universe, they are neither gods nor mortals but something beyond both—primordial forces, entwined in an eternal cycle of birth and destruction.

Jormungandr moves through the cosmos like an artisan sculpting the heavens, weaving fire and dust into the stars that give life to galaxies. Its presence is felt in the warmth of newborn suns, in the hum of nebulae where planets take form. To witness Jormungandr’s work is to glimpse the very essence of creation, to see the endless possibilities of existence unfold in a symphony of light.

But nothing created is meant to last forever. From the deepest reaches of the void, Apophis stirs—a being of hunger and inevitability, drawn to the stars its twin has birthed. Where Jormungandr sings the universe into existence, Apophis whispers its final lullaby, swallowing the light and collapsing stars into the nothingness from which they came. It does not do so out of malice, nor greed, but because the cycle must continue. Without death, there can be no rebirth.

Some civilizations worship Jormungandr as the Great Creator, the lifebringer of the heavens. Others revere Apophis as the Harbinger of the End, the necessary force that allows for new beginnings. But most fear them both, for to stand in the presence of either is to witness a force beyond mortal comprehension.

But even still it’s no more than myth that they even exist – or ever existed.
